Bamboo Butterfly

a journey.

admin On December - 7 - 2013

I can’t believe another winter is here! It’s freezing in Illinois right now.

Things have been pretty busy lately with Thanksgiving and the holidays fast approaching. I’m adjusting to life as a married woman … it is pretty enjoyable and indeed an adventure, though I was missing Taiwan again a little the past few days.

A travel blogger friend of mine was having me help him with a project by compiling a list of things to do and eat in Taiwan. Some of my Taiwan memories came flooding back and, with them, a bittersweetness. It’s crazy that I’ve been home for more than two years already and part of me still doesn’t want to let go of the island.  But I suppose that’s how it always will be. Especially when a place gets that deep under your skin.

I think it might be hard for my new husband to understand my love for Taiwan and this morning I was again, thinking about how one day I’d love to show him the country.

Life does go on and new stories have to be written. But some old stories remain a part of who we are and who we will become.

With that being said, I have a lot to be happy about. God has continued to bless my life and though there is always a thirst for travel and adventure in my heart, I also know that I have many beautiful things to be thankful for here at home.

Here are a few cheery photos taken over the last couple weeks …

Celebrate World Elephant Day

It is time for the world to wake up and realize how close we are to losing these magnificent creatures forever. Elephants are in trouble here in the [...]

fattening and healthy food

How have your eating habits changed since living abroad?

I grew up eating a wide variety of food, though I always have been pretty picky about red meat. My mom always gave us plenty of fresh vegetables and healthy fare along with some more traditional American dishes, but as I grew older and into my twenties, I started eating much larger portions and more [...]

A fresh start for spring

I realize I’ve been a little quiet lately but I guess I’m still trying to figure out the direction for this blog now.  I’m definitely going to keep it up and running but I’m thinking about changing things around a bit. I feel like there are so many stories and memories I still haven’t shared [...]
