Bamboo Butterfly

a journey.

admin On December - 7 - 2013

I can’t believe another winter is here! It’s freezing in Illinois right now.

Things have been pretty busy lately with Thanksgiving and the holidays fast approaching. I’m adjusting to life as a married woman … it is pretty enjoyable and indeed an adventure, though I was missing Taiwan again a little the past few days.

A travel blogger friend of mine was having me help him with a project by compiling a list of things to do and eat in Taiwan. Some of my Taiwan memories came flooding back and, with them, a bittersweetness. It’s crazy that I’ve been home for more than two years already and part of me still doesn’t want to let go of the island.  But I suppose that’s how it always will be. Especially when a place gets that deep under your skin.

I think it might be hard for my new husband to understand my love for Taiwan and this morning I was again, thinking about how one day I’d love to show him the country.

Life does go on and new stories have to be written. But some old stories remain a part of who we are and who we will become.

With that being said, I have a lot to be happy about. God has continued to bless my life and though there is always a thirst for travel and adventure in my heart, I also know that I have many beautiful things to be thankful for here at home.

Here are a few cheery photos taken over the last couple weeks …

The darker sides of Taiwan

Don’t date a girl who travels, marry her!

So I came across a certain article recently. This article, Don’t date a girl who travels, kinda irked me when I read it. I know, I know, I’ve gotten worked up about travel articles before. But I think this one is wrong on a number of levels, so I thought I’d share a few thoughts. [...]
